NEW DELHI: The Centre has decided to observe November 15, birthday of iconic anti-colonial warrior Birsa Munda, from this year as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas in a move that is designed to highlight the role of tribals in the freedom struggle.
Munda fought bravely against the British and spearheaded a movement giving a call for ‘Ulgulan’ (Revolution), which saw the British facing armed resistance from tribals in what now constitutes Jharkhand.

PM Modi took to Twitter to say he was happy that the cabinet has decided to observe November 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
